Prototyping

A functional prototype for the decision you have to make

Bring an idea, a sketch or a CAD model. We make a sample you can test for fit, appearance and function, then refine it until it answers your question.

From brief to sample

How a prototype comes together

  1. 01

    Requirement

What the sample must prove, where it will work and which decision it serves.

  2. 02

    CAD and DFM

CAD as far as the sample needs, with design for manufacture (DFM) from the start.

  3. 03

    Material and process

3D printing, resin, CNC milling or hand assembly, chosen for the question.

  4. 04

    Checks

Fit, appearance and function, plus a climate-chamber run where it matters.

  5. 05

    Iterations

We revise the sample until it answers the question, one revision at a time.

After the prototype

Pilot batch and series on the same floor

When the sample is approved, we make the pilot batch and the series here too, tested unit by unit on HARDWARIO ATS.

Can Studio design the complete product?
We create or adjust CAD as far as the prototype needs and advise on manufacture. Connected products are developed by HARDWARIO Engineering; for purely mechanical development of a larger scope we point you to a specialist.

What a good inquiry contains

  • What you need made and what it is for
  • Your input: drawings, BOM, CAD or a sample
  • Quantity of the first order and repeats
  • Deadline and where the units should go
  • How the result is tested and accepted
